About Amanda Essex
Amanda Essex, who is an interior decorator, has been in the art and design field for over 20 years. Artistic pursuits and design have always been central elements of Amanda’s lifestyle. After majoring in both studio art and art history at college, Amanda worked in New York City at Sotheby’s and later at Alexander Galleries on Madison Ave. During this time, she continued her studies of decorative painting at the Isabel O’Neil Studio, after which the world of interior design beckoned.
Over the years, Amanda Essex has incorporated vintage accessory pieces with new decorated finishes to not only re-purpose historically significant pieces but find a balance between the traditional with a fresh and unique bohemian style. Amanda has often stated, “If you want something truly original one must design and make that which cannot be found in the market place.”
Amanda’s line of jewelry, made available exclusively to DomusAurea, is inspired by “Amulets and Icons.” Recently, Amanda discovered a 19th Century French chandelier which, while beautiful, was unfortunately in very poor condition. Amanda proceeded to rescue all of the beautiful crystal prisms, turning them into individual pendants and decided to create a small jewelry line.
